Past Continuous упражнения для закрепления правил грамматики

Время английского языка past continuous определяет отрезок времени в прошлом, в течении которого производилось какое-то действие. Например, вчера с 2 до 5 я играл в футбол. — I was playing football from 2 to 5 pm yesterday. Сегодня предлагаем материал «past continuous упражнения», который поможет вам лучше усвоить тему past continuous и набить руку на практике. В данной статье предлагаем сделать несколько упражнений, но перед этим напомним особенности образования прошедшего продолженного времени.

Past Continuous: особенности образования

Прошедшее продолженное время образуется по следующей схеме: вспомогательный глагол to be в прошедшем времени (was/were)+основная форма глагола+окончание -ing.

Например:

• I was watching TV when the accident started. — Я смотрел телевизор, когда началось происшествие.
• She was knitting the sweater when I came in. — Когда я вошел, она вязала свитер.
• They were solving the problem while others play cards. — Пока остальные играли в карты, они решали проблему.

Напомним, как образуется The Past Continuous в утвердительном, отрицательном и вопросительном предложениях (в качестве примера возьмем слово say):

The Past Continuous Tense. Упражнения (уровень 1)

Выполните упражнения ниже, чтобы научиться составлять предложения в Past Continuous и отработать четыре основных случая его употребления. Предлагаемые упражнения относятся к уровню для начинающих и даны по мере возрастания сложности.

Как уже говорилось, времена Present Continuous и Past Continuous относятся к одной группе и схожи по построению (см. схему).

The Past Continuous Tense. Упражнения для начинающих

Упражнение 1. Заполните пропуски глаголом в Present Continuous и Past Continuous, используя правильную форму глагола be.

Продолжим выполнять упражнения на Past Continuous дальше и вспомним, что существует 4 случая употребления Past Continuous .

Упражнение 2. Заполните пропуски глаголом в Past Continuous, используя правильную форму глагола be.

1. I ………… reading a book at 4 o’clock yesterday.
2. You ………. reading a book…
3. He ………. reading a book…
4. We ………. reading a book…
5. She ………. reading a book…
6. They ………. reading a book…

Упражнение 3. Перед вами вчерашний список дел Эмили. Напишите, когда и что она делала. Используйте словосочетания:

1. At 9 o’clock she was having breakfast.
2. At 9.30 she…
3. At 11 a.m…
4. At 1 p.m …
5. At 3 p.m …
6. At 5 p.m …

Упражнение 4. Раскройте скобки, употребляя глаголы в Present Continuous или Past Continuous.

1. I ______ (to write) an English exercise now. I _______ (to write) an English exercise at that time yesterday.
2. My little sister _______ (to sleep) now. My little sister ________ (to sleep) at that time yesterday.
3. My friends _______ (not to do) their homework now. They _______ (to play) volley­ball.
4. My friends ______ (not to do) their homework at seven o’clock yesterday. They ______(to play) volleyball.
5. What _____ you ______ (to do) now? — I _______ (to drink) tea. ______ you ______(to drink) tea at that time yesterday? — No, I ________ (not to drink) tea at this time yesterday, I ________ (to eat) a banana.

The Past Continuous Tense – прошедшее длительное время глагола часто путают с простым прошедшем временем (The Past Simple Tense). Давайте разберемся, чем отличаются эти времена друг от друга, для начала по построению. Для этого выполните упражнение 5.

Упражнение 5. Заполните пропуски глаголом в Past Simple и Past Continuous, используя правильную форму глагола be.

Выполните упражнения ниже, чтобы отработать второй случай употребления Past Continuous.

Упражнение 6. Заполните пропуски глаголом в Past Continuous и переведите предложения.

Упражнение 12. Составьте предложения по образцу, используя Past Simple или Past Continuous.

Упражнение 13. Прочитайте историю, которая вполне могла случиться. Выберите правильный вариант глагола-действия.

I (met/was meeting) a friend while I (did/was doing) the shopping. While I (paid/was paying) for my things, I (heard/was hearing) someone call my name. I (turned/was turning) round and (saw/seeing) Paula. She (wore/was wearing) a bright red coat. We (decided/were deciding) to have a cup of coffee. Упражнение 1. Раскройте скобки, поставив глаголы в фоpму Past Continuous.

2. When we came in, the children __________ (to clean) their desks.
3. We met her at the bus stop. She ___________ (to wait) for the bus.

At 7 o’clock the match started on TV, so Dad was still watching it at 7.30. Mum was sitting in the kitchen. She was quietly reading a woman’s magazine. Rosie was trying on her Mum’s clothes in her room. Nick’s cousins were listening to rock music. It was very loud so they didn’t hear the crash. At 7.30 the dogs were lying in front of the fire and they were sleeping. Nick went into the garden with his friend to play football. So at 7.30 he was still there.

To watch, to listen to, to carry, to look at, to wait for, to explain something to somebody, to work, to sit, to play.

Упражнение 7. Вставьте подходящие по смыслу глаголы в форме Past Continuous.

Yesterday we went to the zoo and saw there a lot of animals. First we went to see the white bears. They __________. Then we went to the cage with monkeys.
