I like / I would like

I like / I would like

Глаголы like love hate

Ann hates flying. —

I like being a student? —

I like to do.
I like doing something —
Do you like cooking? —

I like to do something —
Mary likes people to be on time.

После would like/would love/would hate/would prefer обычно идет инфинитив с to:
I would like to be rich. —

Would you mind closing the door, please? —

I would like to have done something = я жалею (в настоящем), что не смог этого сделать (в прошлом). Можно использовать to have done something и после would love/would hate/would prefer.

We would like to have gone on holiday but we didn’t have enough money. —

I like being a student? —

Должно быть do you like instead of I like

Глагол + -ing или инфинитив to . 3: употребление like / would like и т.п.

  • Do you like getting up early? или Do you like to get up early?
  • Stephanie hates flying. или Stephanie hates to fly.
  • I love meeting people. или I love to meet people.
  • I don’t like being kept waiting. или . like to be kept waiting.
  • I don’t like friends calling me at work. or . friends to call me at work.

  • Paul lives in Berlin now. He likes living there. (He likes living in Berlin =
  • Do you like being a student?
  • The office I worked in was horrible. I hated working there.

Иногда есть разница между I like to do и I like doing:

I like doing something =

  • I like cleaning the kitchen. (=

I like to do something =

  • It’s not my favourite job, but I like to clean the kitchen as often as possible.

  • I enjoy cleaning the kitchen. (notI enjoy to clean)
  • I don’t mind cleaning the kitchen. (notI don’t mind to clean)

После would like / would love и т.п. :

  • I’d like (= would like) to go away for a few days.
  • Would you like to come to dinner on Friday?
  • I wouldn’t like to go on holiday alone.
  • I’d love to meet your family.
  • Would you prefer to have dinner now or later?

Сравните I like и I would like (I’d like):

  • I like playing tennis. / I like to play tennis. (=
  • I’d like to play tennis today. (=

После would mind всегда следует -ing (не to . ):

  • Would you mind closing the door, please?

I would like to have done something =

  • It’s a pity we didn’t see Val when we were in London. I would like to have seen her again.
  • We’d like to have gone away, but we were too busy at home.

Вы можете использовать эту же кострукцию после would love / would hate / would prefer:

  • Poor old David! I would hate to have been in his position.
  • I’d love to have gone to the party, but it was impossible.
